We are looking for a lecturer in the European & International Law programme with a focus on teaching legal skills and commercial law.
You will have the opportunity from the beginning to build students’ foundational skills, from legal analysis to advising clients, contract drafting and identifying and managing legal and commercial risks.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can connect these areas to the latest developments in digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, and who can help students understand their practical impact on legal practice and business.

What do we expect from you?
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- A master’s degree in law;
- A legal practitioner, with at least 3 years of experience in business law, preferably gained in a law firm or in-house legal department;
- Holds, or would be willing to obtain, a teaching qualification (BDB);
- Experience of working successfully as a team player in a large, multicultural team;
- A residency permit that allows full time work in the Netherlands.
We especially welcome applications from candidates with current/recent experience with implementing legal technology and the digitization of legal services such as:
- Experience of digital tools like those used for legal practice management, research, CLM, e-discovery;
- Experience of implementing AI to achieve efficiency/strategic improvements in legal services;
- Understanding of the related business, privacy and ethics debates;
- Process improvement theory/practice.

This is what you can expect from us
An appointment of 1 FTE, 40 hours in a temporary position (half year or year), starting August 2026. Extension of the appointment depends on the organizational, educational and financial conditions.
- A salary between € 4.632,17 and €6.677,44 gross per month (lecturer – scale 11) for a full-time work week.
- 8% holiday pay.
- A guaranteed end of year pay of 8.3%.
- The choice between an NS Business card (2nd class) for your commutes or a kilometre-based compensation.

The International and European Law Bachelor Program of The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) is a 4-year LL.B. program, aimed at training students in the fields of commercial law, public international law, human rights, European law, with a strong emphasis on practical legal skills and legal technology. Main focus of the programme in the coming years is to further develop as market-oriented law programme. The Programme, which is licensed and accredited by the Dutch Government, is fast-growing with currently around 1100 students and 50 faculty members of diverse international backgrounds.
