What will you be doing?
You will work in an international educational team and teach subjects in the field of European Policy, Politics, Law & Public Affairs. Subjects included are EU Law & Institutions, EU Public Affairs, EU policy analysis and research.
As a lecturer on our programme, you have regular contact with professional practice to keep the education up-to-date and practice oriented. This gives you the opportunity to network with representatives of local, national, and international businesses, organisations and governmental institutions to develop applied learning projects and study/career opportunities for our students. Furthermore, you can participate in teams that focus on specific items such as student support, events, internationalisation, etcetera.
About the European Studies programme
The European Studies (ES) programme of The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) is a bachelor programme fully taught in English that imparts 21st century skills to international professionals. It combines knowledge offered in a business and/or public management programme with communication, critical thinking and research skills. The ES programme, which is licensed and accredited by the Dutch Government has currently over 1200 students and 60 faculty members of diverse international backgrounds.
Wat vragen wij van jou?
We want you to be successful as a lecturer in this position. We look forward reading more about your experience. Furthermore, we would like to see in your resume that you have:
- A relevant master's degree in political science, law, public administration, or related area.
- A high proficiency in English (at least level C1) and conversational understanding of Dutch is an asset.
- A clear interest and demonstrable expertise in teaching and/or professional experience in the field of EU law, policy and public affairs. Experience in interacting with EU institutions is desirable.
- Obtained, or be willing to obtain, a teaching qualification (BDB).
- The ability to supervise students during their graduation project.
- The ability to work as a team player in a multicultural team.
- A residency permit that allows full time work in the Netherlands.

- A key role in an ambitious, dynamic and professional team.
- An appointment of 1 FTE, 40 hours in a temporary position for a period of one year, starting August 2026. Extension of the appointment depends on the organizational, educational and financial conditions.
- A salary between € 4.632,17 and €6.677,44 gross per month (lecturer – scale 11) for a full-time work week.
- 8% vacation allowance.
- Guaranteed end-of-year pay of 8,3%.
- An extensive leave arrangement.
- The choice between an NS Business card (2nd class) for your commutes or a kilometer based compensation.
