Within in DAMEN logistics is one of our key processes. Although we are a global company with 36 yards around the globe, many of the products that we buy to build our ships are being distributed via are logistics organization in Gorinchem,. In the volatile world that we live in with sanctions and global trade restrictions has made this operation more complex and challenging.
Within our logistics organization – consisting of Central Warehouse, Transport Coordination, Customs Trade & Compliance and Stock Management – we are looking for an experienced and strategically strong Logistics Manager to optimize and future-proof our international goods flows.
The role
As Logistics Manager, you are responsible for developing and implementing logistics policy, international process design, and an efficient organizational structure, with a focus on the businesses that are being operated from Gorinchem. You lead a team of approximately 60 employees directly and indirectly and work closely with colleagues from Procurement, Production and Material Coordination.
You have a strong drive to further streamline and optimize our global logistics processes – from suppliers to our international production sites and customers.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic logistics policy and annual plans together with the business.
- Lead the departments of Central Warehouse, Transport Coordination, Customs Trade & Compliance and Stock Management
- Optimize international logistics processes and systems (including SAP)
- Measures and drives performance of group logistics and the warehouse.
- Coordinate the global network of supply chain managers. Builds coalitions internally and with other (inter)national Damen entities and/or external suppliers to achieve common strategic goals.
- Lead, coach, and develop employees and team leaders
- Global business process owner; SAP, customs data, as member of the Design Authority setting the standards
- Ensure compliance with HSSEQ policy and legal regulations
What you bring
- A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or business administration
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role in an international or industrial environment
- Solid knowledge of Supply Chain and sourcing principles.
- Strong understanding of the business impact of international Customs & Trade Compliance and tax regimes.
- Strong analytical skills and persuasive communication
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English
- Willingness to travel internationally if needed
