Damen Financial Services focuses on the energy transition for the maritime world, converts CAPEX to OPEX for customers, and acts as a disruptor in the maritime world using digital technology. DFS aims to develop into one of the larger clients of the Damen Shipbuilding Divisions, generate new business for other divisions, de-risk complex structures to benefit stakeholders, and generate a stable cash flow to support the Group. The division is fully in control of its processes and uses state-of-the-art systems.
The role
Work in close cooperation with the financial management of the division and the Manager Finance & Administration. Is accountable for the professionalization of the finance processes and department and the ongoing monitoring of the company objectives. Togethet with the Manager Finance & Administration accountable for accurate financial and qualitative division results. Assists the Manager Finance & Administration in performing financial integrity in the day-to-day operational and project management.
Key accountabilities
- Have a leading role in further enhancing the financial function within the company, also in preparation to become an independent division next to the Damen Group;
- Prepare the weekly cash flow forecast for the company, including the reporting;
- Together with the Manager Finance & Administration responsible for an accurate financial accounting system, in close cooperation with the Shared Service Center, and control information system;
- Supports the Manager Finance & Administration in providing monthly and quarterly financial reporting of the company to the Directors of the companyand to the Damen Group;
- Preparing the annual budget, including the 5-year outlook, which is updated every quarter;
- In cooperation with the Manager Finance & Administration delivering all annual accounts of the entities that belong to the division in a correct and timely manner, this in close cooperation with the business, Group Control and external auditors;
- Continuous review of financial, control and management information systems and procedures, implementing improvements across the organisation;
- Assists the Manager Finance & Administration in being responsible for reviewing, updating and documenting the organisation’s financial policies and procedures to ensure full compliancy with (inter)national laws and regulations;
- Develop (inter)national financial, tax and risk reduction strategies and monitors financial operations of subsidiary companies;
- Contributes to the companies planning and control cycle;
- Have a proactive role in applying all compliance rules and regulations;
- Support in ad-hoc initiatives to support the business and improve and automate processes.
Skills & experience
- (Post-)Graduate level at least a Bachelor degree preferably Business Economics, Accountancy or equivalent;
- Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of economic business principles, laws and regulations, trends and developments in data-processing and -analytics
- Knowledge of and experience with ERP systems and BI tools.
- Good command of the Dutch and English language (written and verbal);
- Tech-savvy, able to work with new software quickly
