Your Mission: Keep Damen Ships Running Worldwide

As a Field Service Engineer Electrical & Automation, you’ll be the go-to expert ensuring Damen vessels operate at peak performance. From commissioning new systems to troubleshooting breakdowns and training crews, you’ll be on the front lines—delivering excellence wherever Damen ships sail.

Key accountabilities

This is a good fit if you like to do the following:

• Fix & Maintain: Diagnose and resolve breakdowns, perform maintenance, overhauls, and installations on electrical, mechanical, and process systems;
• Commission Globally: Support local shipyards with operational commissioning of Damen vessels and systems;
• Train & Empower: Deliver hands-on training to crews and third parties on ship operation, usage, and maintenance;
• Document & Report: Maintain clear project documentation and administrative records;
• Travel the World; Be ready for international assignments—expect to travel at least 50% of the time.

Skills & experience

We’re looking for pragmatic problem-solvers who thrive in dynamic, international environments and are passionate about delivering results.

• Bachelor-level thinking and working experience (through education or practice);
• Several years in a similar international field service role;
• Strong communication skills and cultural awareness;
• EU passport or valid Dutch work permit;
• Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).

Technical Expertise:

• Experience with control and PLC systems;
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical engineering;
• Skilled in inspections, testing, and maintenance of electrical installations

You are:

• A pragmatic, persuasive Field Service Engineer Electrical & Automation with a solid personality, who fits in a dynamic organization with a hands-on culture;
• Independent, but by nature seeks cooperation;
• Decisive and works methodically, at the same time flexible in your approach
• Able to influence, put things into perspective and also knows how to have the patience that is sometimes needed to achieve results;
• Well able to manage expectations.
