Damen Workboats, a leading division within the Damen Shipyards Group, consists of several entities including an operating company and four shipyards (Turkey, Vietnam, China and The Netherlands). We specialize in the design, construction, and maintenance of workboats, offering a wide range of vessels for various maritime applications. The role
As Junior Business Controller, you will be part of the Control team of the Finance & Control department. You will work closely with various departments and yards to ensure effective financial management and decision-making. This role requires a deep understanding of both finance and IT, as well as the ability to translate technical concepts into financial insights. You will collaborate closely with team leaders to optimize financial performance, drive cost efficiency, and contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives.
Key accountabilities:
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Help develop budgets and financial forecasts, and monitor performance against these targets including risks and opportunities.
- Business control: contributes to the business control activities (budgeting, forecasting and business compliance) in close collaboration with the local Finance Manager and senior colleagues.
- Data Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Support: Work closely with the senior controllers, financial director and local finance managers of the yards and other financial professionals to support various financial operations.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required by management.
Skills & experience:
- Education: A Master degree in Finance, Accounting, Business administration, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in finance, with a focus on financial analysis, controlling, budgeting, and cost management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis. Proficiency in financial software and tools, including PowerBI, Excel and SAP4Hana
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities, high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Personal Traits: Driven, ambitious, proactive, and prepared to go the extra mile. Hands-on, accurate, well-structured, reliable, and discrete.
- Team Player: Flexible and able to work effectively in a small team within a dynamic work environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
