Damen Shiprepair Harbour & Voyage is a young and dynamic organization. We act in the exciting world of Heavy Offshore, Ship Repair, Luxury Cruise Ships, LNG Ships, larger Container Ships, Bulk Carriers, etc.

In this world, we offer a wide range of services, from warranty to complete upgrades of complex systems, from supplying small parts to fully managing complex repairs, from replacing a cylinder to providing ship management, system renewals and ship upgrades.

Additionally, we also provide project teams to offer service in a different way. Ships don’t come to us, we bring our service to the ship. This service is unlimited and always tailored to the client's needs, and is carried out worldwide.

Our teams operate from our service hubs located in multiple locations. The ultimate goal of the service is to get the floating objects and ships back in operation as quickly as possible.

Purpose of the role:

As a Business Unit Manager, you are responsible for the management, control, and operational and financial performance of various locations in the Caribbean area. You play a crucial role in strengthening the market position of Damen Shiprepair Harbour & Voyage and maintaining strong customer relationships, specifically focused on ship repair.

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Managing and controlling operational and financial performance of various locations.
  • Identifying and approaching potential customers and markets in the Caribean area in coordination with sales.
  • Maintaining and expanding existing customer relationships.
  • Negotiating and concluding contracts.
  • Analyzing market trends and competition to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Ensuring proper management in the operational sphere.
  • Conducting project evaluations for larger projects.
  • Ensuring proper coordination and control with the various locations in the area you are responsible for.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to understand customer needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Reporting performance and forecasts to management.
  • Ensuring continuous availability and responsiveness in a 24/7 business environment.
  • Effectively communicating with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the expansion of services at multiple locations within a short period.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role, familiar with managing multiple locations, preferably in the maritime sector.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving thinking.
  • Proactive and result-oriented attitude.
  • Fluent in Dutch, English and Spanish
  • Preferably residing in the Caribbean
  • Knowledge of ship repair and the maritime sector.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly in a dynamic, 24/7 environment.
  • Ability to achieve goals with a positive attitude.
  • High customer orientation and no 8:00 to 17:00 mentality.
