Brunel is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Buyer to join our clients dynamic team. This is a contractor role based in Rotterdam, specialising in mechanical packages within the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in procuring materials, equipment, and services essential for project and operations execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for developing and leading procurement plans aligned with project requirements. You will source and evaluate suppliers in accordance with strategic sourcing frameworks, negotiate contracts and commercial terms, and manage purchase orders to support project delivery. Your expertise will contribute to cost control, compliance with industry regulations, and risk mitigation. Additionally, you will mentor a team of buyers, providing guidance and support to optimise procurement activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies based on project timelines and budgets - Sourcing suppliers and evaluating their performance against quality, cost, and delivery criteria
- Negotiating contracts and commercial terms for critical mechanical packages- Issuing and managing purchase orders ensuring compliance with project specifications and company policies
- Monitoring procurement costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing quality - Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards
- Providing regular procurement status reports and risk assessments to project managers and stakeholders - Mentoring and supporting the buyer team to enhance performance and development
Vereisten
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline - Minimum of 10 years' procurement experience within the oil and gas industry, specifically with EPC projects and mechanical packages
- Proven expertise in contract negotiation and commercial communication - Proficiency in procurement software, CSS, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organisational, analytical, and reporting skills - Comprehensive knowledge of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and procurement best practices
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment - Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and cost control
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to mentor and lead a team
