SCADA Engineer
Profile SCADA Engineer
Have you engineered SCADA for offshore substations and utility/TSO interfaces? Can you own specs, TBEs and vendor reviews from design through FAT/SAT?
-
We are looking for a SCADA Engineer to deliver the detailed design and implementation of the control & data-acquisition system for offshore wind assets, especially offshore stations, while ensuring safe, reliable, and future-proof operation.
-
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Own the detailed SCADA design across EPC phases: requirements capture, system architecture, network topology, redundancy and cybersecurity.
- Produce and maintain key engineering deliverables: FDS, I/O & signal lists, interface lists, cause-and-effect, alarm handling, HMI/historian tag lists, network drawings.
- Specify and integrate RTUs/PLCs, gateways, firewalls, HMIs, historians; select protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP/OPC UA) and define data models.
- Coordinate interfaces with electrical protection, metering, telecoms, cybersecurity and grid/TSO stakeholders to ensure end-to-end operability.
- Prepare datasheets, specifications, TBEs, review vendor documents and support supplier selection.
- Plan, script, witness and close out FAT/SAT/ISAT, manage punch lists, and support site commissioning and handover.
- Ensure compliance with client standards and applicable frameworks (e.g., IEC 61850/60870, IEC 62443, TSO requirements).
- Report progress, risks and changes; provide input to schedules and man-hour estimates; support lessons learned.
Requirements SCADA Engineer
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on SCADA engineering experience, including detailed design on greenfield projects.
- Strong exposure to offshore substations/TSO environments is a significant plus.
- Proficient with at least one major vendor stack (e.g., Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider) across PLC/RTU, HMI/SCADA and historian layers.
- Solid knowledge of industrial protocols & networks: IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA; VLNs, routing, redundancy (PRP/HSR/RSTP).
- Experience producing specs/FDS, performing TBE, and executing FAT/SAT/commissioning.
- Familiar with OT cybersecurity practices (IEC 62443 concept, hardening, access control).
