Senior Piping & Material Engineer
Profile Senior Piping & Material Engineer
Have you selected materials for sour service, high temperature, or high CO₂/H₂S? Can you translate corrosion/erosion modelling into practical thickness and coating choices?
-
We are looking for a Senior Piping & Material Engineer to define piping materials and specifications, lead package/material selection and procurement engineering, and ensure safe, reliable, and compliant designs are delivered on time, on budget, and to standard.
-
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Select piping materials, corrosion/erosion allowances, ratings, and coatings/insulation in line with project specs, international codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain piping material classes, line specifications, and related datasheets (valves/special items).
- Plan and deliver discipline activities and deliverables to schedule and budget; manage interfaces with other disciplines.
- Review and approve vendor offers, perform technical bid evaluations, and resolve deviations with supply chain and engineering.
- Act as Package Engineer when assigned, overseeing design, procurement, manufacturing/inspection, and documentation for material packages.
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and third parties; manage clarifications, NCRs, and concessions.
- Apply lessons learned and standardisation to optimise cost, reliability, and constructability.
- Guide engineers and (when assigned) act as Discipline Lead for defined scopes.
- Support 3D model and layout reviews for materials/ratings consistency; ensure alignment with line list and process requirements.
- Contribute to MTOs, requisitions, and change impact assessments; support site queries, pre-commissioning, and handover.

- Strong knowledge of applicable codes/standards and materials (e.g., ASME B31.1, ASTM/API material specs, pressure equipment rules).
- Proven experience creating and managing piping material classes, valve/special item specs, and corrosion/materials selection.
- Competent with engineering design/calculation tools and materials management workflows; familiarity with package engineering and manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to plan work, manage interfaces, and deliver to cost/schedule/quality targets.
- Effective communicator and collaborator across disciplines, vendors, and construction; problem-solving and analytical mindset.
