Lead SCM Chartering Specialist

We are looking for a Lead SCM Chartering Specialist to manage the procurement and chartering of marine assets, ensuring optimal terms and compliance while supporting project needs and strategies.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Ensure chartering category involvement for marine asset procurement activities, covering the entire project lifecycle from business development to project closeout.
• Pre-qualify shipowners, agents, and brokers.
• Control and check transportation synergies across business units and with corporate chartering.
• Incorporate legal framework requirements, such as the Jones Act, into transactions.
• Explore, prepare, and maintain frame agreements and long-term charters with key business partners.
• Proactively cooperate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and advise on market developments.
• Liaise with the Group Chartering category to follow group strategies.
• Serve as the category expert within the SCM Discipline, ensuring consultation and involvement in chartering matters.
• Define chartering procurement strategy in cooperation with internal stakeholders and expert discipline.
• Stay connected to marine asset markets to respond rapidly to business needs, obtaining quotes and conducting commercial evaluations.
• Engage with vendors to secure optimal terms, focusing on efficiency.
• Perform commercial analysis, normalise and evaluate bids, incorporating technical evaluations from disciplines like Engineering, Planning, QHSE, and Contracts.
• Finalise bid summaries and make recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Optimise cost, quality, and schedule flexibility in chartering.
• Ensure Charter Party contracts and subcontract paperwork are ready for execution.
• Supervise effective delivery of charter parties.
• Contribute to project global targets, staying aware of key project matters, schedule, planning, and organisation.
• Participate in Charter Party close-out, ensuring lessons learned are captured and integrated into business processes.
• Support the Supplier Evaluation Process, ensuring supplier performance evaluations and populating lessons learned reports.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical, commercial, or legal discipline.
• Deep understanding of Supply Chain Management and Subcontracting processes.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a high proficiency in English (both verbally and in writing).
• Experience in a project role, ideally within the construction or maritime industry.
• Advanced user of contemporary software tools; experience with SAP and Ariba is beneficial.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to focus teams and the business.
