About the job

As Batavia is a fast-growing company, you will provide a procurement service that meets the current and developing requirements of Batavia Biosciences. The Purchaser position is new, and you will report to the Facilities Manager. An important task will be the (re)structuring of the purchasing activities and setting up a new purchasing system. This incorporates e-commerce, order placement, and maintaining and creating fundamental supplier relations. Payment terms and delivery lead times are critical to our process, so this needs to be a key parameter that will need to be managed by this role. The Purchaser will ensure all raw materials currently supplied to the site for use in R&D and GMP manufacturing are sourced through the most appropriate and reliable supply route in line with the Vendor Approval process to manage, control and minimize any stock/supply issues.

Your primary responsibilities will be

• Maintaining close links with each customer program team to ensure the timely provision of all required equipment, raw materials, and services are meeting the agreed timelines,
• Ensure timely payment for materials and services provided in coordination with the warehouse and Finance staff. And working closely regarding purchase order discrepancies and making amendments when required,
• To pre-empt, identify and swiftly resolve raw materials supply-related issues
• To obtain the best value while maximizing business efficiency
• You will ensure that the timely delivery of raw materials will fully satisfy site process, quality, regulatory, SHE, and scheduling requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field may be required.
• Knowledge of GMP / ALCOA+
• Previous experience in a similar position
• Proficiency in the relevant management software programs.
• Superb written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
• Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
• The ability to identify market trends and make decisions in a high-stress environment.
• The ability to follow end-user specifications.
• Excellent networking and time management skills.
