Job Description
The EHS & Technical Lead will champion a robust safety culture and drive employee engagement across the site to achieve enhanced safety performance and cultivate a zero-tolerance approach to incidents. This role requires a collaborative, proactive individual who can partner effectively across all functions, adapt to the dynamic manufacturing environment, and own the development and delivery of a best-in-class safety training program and culture. While not directly managing a team, you will act as a key influencer across other teams, maintaining a hands-on presence on the shopfloor to ensure the highest standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- This is an on-site position with a hands-on presence on the shopfloor to influence and drive safety awareness.
- Cultivate a proactive and adaptable safety culture across all functions, overseeing EHS activities for the Zoeterwoude site and providing support/oversight for other Thermopatch sites in the Netherlands (Almere and Helmond).
- Develop and deliver environmental, health, and safety education and training to meet regulatory and Avery Dennison business standards.
- Lead incident investigations (releases, injuries, near-misses) and implement High-Value Learnings while maintaining EHS culture at a high level.
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance and repair work on plant equipment and systems, influencing technical teams without direct reports.
- This role requires travel for day visits to the Almere and Helmond sites approximately once every two weeks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering/ Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar EHS or H&S role within a manufacturing environment with a strong EHS and ELS (Enterprise Lean System / Continuous Improvement) mindset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and programs with a strong focus on the Netherlands.
- Proven experience with life safety codes, EHS rules, HAZOP, training, principles of occupational safety and health, and Process Safety Management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence teams without direct authority and a willingness to travel bi-weekly to other Dutch locations.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
