Job description

We are looking for a ​Mechanical Technician​ on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in ​Noordwijk, The Netherlands​, to join their ​TEC department​.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Mechanical Manufacturing and procurement of mechanical parts and materials;

    • Manufacture of mechanisms and structural parts, according to drawings, required for S/C flight units in accordance with ESA Quality Assurance requirements;

    • Manufacture of cryogenic and vacuum systems according to drawings, applying standards as required for space environmental testing;

    • Manufacture of prototypes and mock-ups;

    • Manufacture of thermal blankets;

    • Procurement of mechanical parts and materials;

  • Electromechanical Manufacturing, assembly and integration of equipment;

    • Assembly, integration, harnessing and testing of electronic and electromechanical hardware for S/C units;

    • Assembly of printed circuit boards according to ESA standards;

    • Assembly and integration of electrical or electromechanical equipment to be used in the environmental test facilities;

    • Assembly and integration of guiding structures for wave propagation as rigid and flexible wave-guides;

    • Selection of suitable materials, components and tools to efficiently perform manufacture and assembly tasks.

Job requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience;

  • Knowledge and proven hands-on experience of manufacturing and assembly of space hardware;

  • Familiarity with high precision mechanical equipment (e.g. milling/turning/drilling machines) is

  • Requested;

  • Experience in programming and operating controlled machines is necessary;

  • Adequate knowledge of technical English is also requested;

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU.
