Job description

We are looking for multiple ​Automation and Robotics Engineers​ on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in ​Noordwijk, The Netherlands​, to join their ​Robotics Section​.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Day-to-day operation and maintenance of the different units of the Automation and Robotics Laboratory:

    • Maintenance and servicing of the laboratory hardware and software;

    • Support in planning and implementing new procurements;

    • Maintenance of laboratory inventory;

    • Implementation of the laboratory safety rules.

  • Planning, execution and documentation of laboratory experiments:

    • Specific engineering support to existing ESA space projects;

    • Preparation of engineering, technology and facility infrastructure competence for potential future ESA projects;

    • Assessment and integration into end-to-end testbeds of the various outputs from ESA technology development contracts;

    • Demonstration of the Automation and Robotics capabilities.

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the essential requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection.

  • PhD or Masters Degree from a recognised institution of secondary studies, or equivalent;

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience;

  • Education in mechatronics (covering aspects from mechanical, electrical and computer engineering including data communications and digital image processing systems);

  • Experience in specification and analysis of robot manipulation, locomotion and control systems;

  • Practical experience in robot systems and related engineering tools (e.g. standard design, analysis and simulation software);

  • Experience in space project work;

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
