Job description
We are looking for a Materials, Environments and Contamination Control Engineering Support professional to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. The team will be responsible for tasks in the field of materials environments encompassing, but not limited to, cleanliness and contamination control, chemical analysis, materials in the space environment, materials modelling and materials laboratory testing. This also includes the development of novel materials with enhanced/enabling performances and technical support to Life Cycle Assessments.
Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).
The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
Technical support to ESA space programmes from phase 0 to phase E, including participation to system and sub-system design reviews, active follow-up and technical assessment of hardware design, manufacturing and testing and all associated analyses;
Technical support in the review of industry proposals during the ITT process (as external technical expert);
Technical support to CDF studies including expert contribution covering engineering assessment, analysis, provision of information for the reports and presentations;
Identification of critical development problems and assistance in their resolution;
Support in the design follow up including cross analyses, shadow engineering of industry output, support in the organisation and participation to design reviews;
Performance of analysis as required to support the development of the materials, equipment and subsystems;
Active participation as technical experts to failure / NCR investigations and associated NRB’s;
Active participation as technical experts to the MPCB’s (only relevant to Materials and Processes engineers);
Active participation as technical experts to progress meetings, technical meetings / workshops, working groups as required;
Active participation as technical experts to safety panel meetings, review of safety data packages and submit comments to the involved entities, support ISS payloads safety reviews;
Contribution to the definition of studies which will lead to results of value and substance, in ESA important areas, which can be followed up in technology and project activities or can result in increased technical competence within the Section;
Contribution to the response to call for ideas under various funding programs within TEC or for other directorates (e.g. Science, Telecoms);
Support to the implementation of technology development activities according to the agreed workplans (TDE, GSTP, ARTES, etc.);
Support to the preparation of Statement of Work in line with the objectives of the activities and depending on the targeted output TRL level;
Support to the R&D Technical Officer in the R&D activities;

Participate in the definition and execution of ESA standards and technology programmes with special emphasis on mechanical system and configuration aspects, lightweight structures, structural dynamics and advanced structural materials technologies.

Degree education background in STEM and/or business subjects;
At least 4 years of relevant work experience in technical domains of service;
Solid understanding and demonstrated experience of the space sector;
Thorough knowledge and experience of ECSS Space management;
Experience with knowledge management;
Experience in defining a repository with all procedures and training materials;
Demonstrate to have the necessary skills to, qualification and experience to perform tasks;
Team coordination for autonomous execution;
High capacity to interact and communicate effectively with international teams;
High-level of communication and organizational skills
Behavioral competencies to include: service delivery orientation, effective time-management, efficient and concise presentations of complex information attention to details for outputs problem-solving forward thinking and continuous improvement;
Ability to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines;
