We are looking for a ​Thermal Systems Engineer​ on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in ​Noordwijk, The Netherlands​, to join their ​Thermal Division​.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

• Provide support to the Agency in the maintenance of the STEP-TAS ecosystem including internal work and technical/administrative support to external. Specifically, the STEP-TAS Ecosystem includes the following items:

• C++ code generators (EXPRESS to C++);

• C++ SDK;

• pyExpress Python code generator;

• Python SDK;

• TASverter;

• User documentation and STEP-TAS web portal.

• Provide support to the end users of the SDKs and the converter tools to resolve problems submitted.

• Provide support to the Agency in the thermal engineering (design, analysis and data exchange) related to the sections thermal control activities;

• Provide support to the Agency in the population management and maintenance of the divisional thermal model repository, receiving thermal models from colleagues, carrying out acceptance tests on them and archiving them;

• Provide support to the Agency in the identification and capture of lessons learned in all the activities performed, as well as ideas for improvements to tools processes and technologies used;

• Support European standardization activities;

• Make regular progress reports;

• Provide adequate documentation, covering all tasks above.

• Master’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent university degree from a recognised Institution of secondary studies;

• At least 5 years of relevant experience;

• Strong background and experience with the Agency’s thermal analysis tools, e.g. ESATAN-TMS;

• Strong background and experience with thermal analysis data exchange between standard formats (ESAATAN-TMS, SYSTEMA, Thermal Desktop);

• Strong background in analysis methods, numerical analysis and data management;

• Strong background in software development and software engineering, preferably in Fortran, C/C++, Java and Python;

• Strong background and knowledge of Linux development tools and related software;

• Excellent knowledge of the STEP-TAS data exchange protocol and software libraries;

• Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU;

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
