As an Software Development Intern, you will support the development of an internal lab inventory system to improve how we track and manage key components used in our R&D processes. Working with a modern Python-based stack, you will contribute to building a practical tool that helps the team operate more efficiently and make better use of resources. This is a hands-on role where you will work with real data, contribute to an existing codebase, and see the direct impact of your work.
The internship will have a duration of 4 months with the required availability of 3-4 days per week.
What you’ll be doing
- Contribute to the development of an internal lab inventory system
- Work on a Python-based backend to track key lab components such as membranes, chemicals, and spacers
- Expand and maintain a PostgreSQL database to support inventory tracking
- Develop and improve features within the existing codebase
- Write tests to ensure reliability and maintainability of the system
- Collaborate with the team to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Function requirements:
We expect from you
- Currently enrolled as a student in Software Development, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with Python (SQLAlchemy and FastAPI required; PyQt6 is a plus)
- Basic knowledge of SQL (preferably PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with Git version control
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
- Comfortable asking questions and challenging assumptions when needed
- Open to feedback and code reviews
- Good communication skills in English
