As part of our Growth Strategy at APM Terminals, we are investing in greenfield projects to expand our existing footprint and working with our existing brownfield sites to ensure best-in-class terminals across the globe. Our ability to design and build a terminal, establish an operational organization and secure commercial business is pivotal to achieving these ambitions.

We are looking for Centre of Excellence Lead! This role will be responsible for driving continuous improvement across our capital investment projects. This pivotal role will shape and implement our maturity and improvement agenda, including the development of standards, processes, tools, training, and ways of working. Centre of Excellence Lead will play a key role in enabling us to achieve our strategic ambitions by fostering excellence in people, processes, systems, and asset delivery.

Location: The Hague, Netherlands (Short-term travel as needed to support project and APMT Project Execution requirements)


Key Responsibilities:

Improvement Planning and Execution:

Coordinate across PMO to ensure ongoing alignment and coordination on improvement needs.

Facilitate the design of the BIM Improvement Program, working with BIM Leadership and the respective Kaizen leaders and teams.

Facilitate the BIM Improvement Forum in a structured and efficient manner, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities.

Ensure learning is gathered from projects to inform the improvement agenda in a systematic way.

Produce high quality reports on the progress of the BIM Improvement Program.

Participate in internal audits as required.

Delivery Excellence:

Continuously refine and improve towards a best-in-class Project Management Framework which serves to ensure that APM Terminals delivers its new implementation projects with clear processes, transparent decisions, strong documentation and effective best practice deployment.

Ensure that elements of the Project Integration Framework are aligned and integrated with other relevant APM Terminals processes.

Maintain a structured and accessible PM standards and learning repository, accessible to all APMT projects.

Ensure project management maturity overviews are used to inform PMO service delivery (Maturity Roadmap).

Ways of Working:

Using a LEAN approach, Identify key process improvements and ways of working across the transversal and ensure that these are established effectively across BIM.

Work across the PMO to ensure that ways of working are clearly reflected in BIM collateral and communicated across BIM.

Capability development:

Set up the BIM Training Academy and offerings.

Establish the PM Professionalization Program (certification), which includes the PM Competency Framework.

Establish key metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of the Centre of Excellence efforts and report on progress.


Who We Are Looking For:

  • A broad range of experience across project management, project capability building and evaluation.

  • Experience developing and working with project standards and delivering project assurance.

  • Experience in designing / delivering/ facilitating project training.

  • Experience in developing high quality reports and performance insights for management.

  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Project Management Systems.

  • Experience managing or functionally supporting teams of project planning and delivery professionals

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proactive service-based attitude.

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Project management qualifications (PMI, Prince2, APMPMQ or equivalent).

  • Experience from a major construction project is a major advantage.
