PURPOSE

Reporting to the Head of Safety & Resilience, APM Terminals this leadership role is responsible for delivering through team and self. As a leader you’ll be managing skilled HSSE specialists across multiple specialisms.

1) developing, maintaining and improving the HSSE Management System for APM Terminals, 2) delivering and assuring Environment and Social, Health and Safety, Security, Business Resilience and compliance programs for APMT Investments and Project Execution functions, and 3) develop the environmental program for APM Terminals.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads the development and maintenance of the HSSE & BR management framework.
  • Leads the development of the Environmental program for terminals focussing on Environmental & Ecosystems related risks and impacts including support current and future business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable country, state and local laws.
  • Owns and embeds Global HSSE&BR capital investment, M&A processes and master planning into the APMT project portfolio ensuring successful business and HSSE&BR outcomes.

HSSE&BR Management System

  • Developing and implementing an effective HSSE management system, inspired by and leveraging APM Terminals’ Ways of Working, Training Within Industry and aligned to international best practice.
  • Establishing and maintaining HSSE policies, procedures, compliance content services, and guidelines to enable systematic HSSE compliance with applicable laws and regulations across APM Terminals both in running business and in new projects / acquisitions.

Environmental

  • Provides subject matter expertise and oversight services to APM Terminals on environmental issues including environmental compliance issues.
  • Develops Environmental minimum requirements, global processes and critical control points to adequately meet all legislative requirements and Industry best practice.
  • Develops Environmental minimum requirements for new investments and acquisitions and arranges the evaluation of same as well as the framework to implement any consequential actions

HSSE Capital Investment and M&A activities:

  • Develop and implement HSSE standards, processes and related activities that develop the current project execution framework to meet APMT ambition levels for health, safety, security and environment.
  • Own and continuously improve the APMT HSSE M&A and due diligence processes & tools
  • Lead and manage all HSSE matters for APMT deals from due diligence through integration phases or project execution and ultimately through transition to the business operational HSSE teams.

Performance Insights

  • Provide processes to report metrics in & out ensuring on-time delivery of business and corporate reporting and ESG (Sustainability) data assurance including supporting the WoW cadence.

      Qualifications/Skills/Experience

      • 10+ years’ experience in HSSE roles within an industrial context of which at least 5 years in leadership role in multi-national organization.
      • Knowledge of the terminals industry and deep understanding of APM Terminals’ Ways of Working highly desirable.
      • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental sciences, or a related field. Demonstrable equivalence including on the-job experience welcome.
      • Advanced certifications in HSSE management systems (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 14001 / 45001 Lead Auditor) are highly desirable.
      • Proven experience in developing and implementing HSSE management systems in a similar role, preferably within a high-risk industry such as manufacturing, construction, or energy.
      • Sound knowledge of environmental regulatory and statutory requirements (license and permits) in a project context is desirable.
      • Strong knowledge of HSSE regulations, standards, and best practices
