Job description
Airbus Netherlands is expanding its business into free space optical communication. We are developing ground stations as well as terminals on aircrafts that communicate with satellites. As Systems Engineer for Laser Satcom you will be the technical lead for the development of these systems, from proposals up to development and realization. Among other tasks, you will act as the systems architect, managing the requirements, guiding teams of technical specialists, delivering technical designs and system performance calculations and you will interface with customers, partners and suppliers. Additionally, you will support product / business development and have a key role in defining the optical communication strategy for Airbus Netherlands
What it takes
- You have completed a technical, academic university education, supplemented with at least ten years of working experience of which at least three years in the field of optical communications.
- You have experience in the space industry and you are a technical expert in the field of optical communications.
- Your background is in communication technology, control, electronics, software, optics and / or photonics.
- You are result-driven, pragmatic and proactive.
- You are organized and capable of managing scope, costs, risks and people.
- You have strong communication and negotiation skills and great commercial awareness.
- You are a strategic thinker and capable of navigating through challenging political environments.
- You are at least for 60% of your time located in the Leiden facility. It is allowed to partly work from home.
- You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
